Prewar composition returned with this nickel. From 1942 to 1945 they made nickels out of silver and other metals. 1946 was the first time since WWII ended that the 75% copper and 25% nickel was used again.
The coin is in rough shape and common so I expect it only to ever have metal value. Few of the older coins I found are in great shape that is because they all have circulated. It is still possible to find almost uncirculated older coins in your change but that gets tougher each year.
